Suggested Activities in Ubud, Bali

People from all over the world come to Ubud, Bali, because it is a great city and a place they want to visit. On the island of Bali, Indonesia, there is a town called Ubud. The culture there is very rich and full of life. The art in Ubud is known all over the world and is definitely worth seeing.

The best things to do in Ubud are fun and interesting, like visiting the Ubud Monkey Forest, Ubud’s shopping areas, art museums, art galleries, Ubud’s rice fields, holistic healing centers, and other great places. You will also get to see the city’s big mountain, beautiful forests, mysterious caves near the volcano, old temples, and traditional dances set to live music.

Stay Away From The City

Ubud doesn’t look great at first glance. The first few days we were there, we stayed in the middle of town and couldn’t figure out why. The center is crowded with cars, tour groups, and shops selling souvenirs.

There are some hidden gems, but if you want to get the most out of your trip, you should stay outside the center, preferably somewhere with a view of rice fields.

We moved 3 km outside of town, where we stayed for almost five months and then came back for another five the next year. One of our favorite things to do in Ubud is to sit by our pool and look out over a rice field or the jungle.

There are many different kinds of places to stay in Ubud, from cheap homestays to high-end resorts. We use Booking.com to find hotels. If you choose “view” as one of the room amenities, you’ll get a lot of suggestions for hotels outside of town, like the beautiful luxury villas at Ayuterra Resort.

If you want to be close to the city center and don’t want to rent a motorcycle, there are some beautiful places to stay in quiet, scenic areas.

Forest of Monkeys

The Monkey Forest is one of the things to do in Ubud. It is a sacred forest to the locals who believe in Tri Hita Karana. Tri Hita Karana means “Three ways to spiritual and physical well-being.” It is something that all living things on Earth have in common. You will feel good energy from the people, the monkeys, and nature while you are there.

You could also play with the monkeys and visit the temples in the Monkey Forest. In the temples, you can see spiritual ceremonies taking place every day. You can also go to the natural laboratory to see rare plants and plants that are used in ceremonies. After that, you, your family, or your friends can go for a walk through the forest to look at the beautiful nature of Ubud

Campuhan Ridge Walk

The Campuhan Ridge is our favorite place to walk in Ubud because it is one of the few places where you can get away from the traffic.

There are a few hills, but the walk is easy, and the views of rice fields and a valley below are beautiful. There isn’t much shade, so it’s best to go early in the morning or near the end of the day.

From the school parking lot to Karsa Kafe, which was a great place to take a break, and back took us 45 minutes and 3.5km (2.2 miles).

You can’t park at the school anymore, so give yourself an extra 10 minutes or 1 km each way to walk from the Ubud Art Market to the start of the trail.

If you’d rather have a guide show you around, this walking tour of Ubud takes you to places like Camphuan Ridge, the Monkey Forest, and the Art Market.

Places To Shop In Ubud

Shopping should come to mind when you ask what to do in Ubud. Since Ubud’s tourism has grown so quickly, there are a lot of shops to choose from. Since so many local artists have started their own businesses, the art scene has grown a lot. Each shop is different, so you’ll want to walk around and check out each one.

Each shop has its own special items that you won’t find anywhere else. Sculptures, wood carvings, pottery, jewelry, and other creative items make up a lot of these works of art. The Ubud indoor market has a lot of cheap souvenirs. Also, when you shop, try to talk down the prices so you don’t end up paying 2 or 3 times as much.

    Walk the Rice Fields

A flat path through rice fields leads to the farm and restaurant at Sari Organik, which is another nice place to walk.

Although Sari Organik is no longer open, there are many alternative cafes from which to choose and have a meal or drink while taking in the scenery. Try Cafe Pomegranate, Joglo Organik, or Dragonfly Cafe.

Just off this path is the Ubud Yoga House, which is one of my favorite yoga studios in Ubud.

The alternate trail across the rice fields may be reached by beginning at the other end of Jalan Kajeng (search for Kajeng Rice Field on Google Maps).

The bad thing is that people drive motorbikes on these narrow paths.

Museums And Galleries Full Of Art

Visit art museums and galleries in different parts of Ubud. This is one of the most educational things you can do. Ubud has a lot of art museums and galleries because there are so many very talented artists living there. It’s true that several famous Western painters, such as Rudolph Bonnet and Walter Spies, visited Ubud to share their expertise with local artists. In 1936, the King of Ubud started a group of artists called the Pitamaha Artists Cooperative. This group’s main goal was to combine local and western art styles.

You can go to many museums, like the Neka Art Museum, which has beautiful buildings. Inside the museum, there are a lot of interesting pieces of art and a lot of color. You can also go to museums like the Blanco Renaissance Museum, the Museum Puri Lukisan, and others. The entrance to the Blanco Renaissance Museum is very nice, and the garden is very impressive. The Museum of Puri Lukisan is the oldest art museum in Bali, and inside you can see traditional paintings and carvings.

Bali: Full-Day Spiritual Cleansing and Shamanic Healing Tour is a fun way to get to know the people of Ubud, which is close to art museums and galleries.
