Some Parisian Haunted Attractions for the Brave

When you plan a trip to Paris, you’ll find a lot of information about all the famous places you have to see. The Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre Museum, and the Seine are all places you can’t miss.

If you’re looking to get away from the tourist crowds in the City of Light, I’ve found three spots that are certain to raise your pulse rate and make your palms sweat.

1. Mont Saint-Michel

The old monastery on Mont Saint-Michel is one of France’s most famous landmarks, but legend has it that the Archangel Michael had to burn a hole in Saint Aubert’s head to get him to start building it. Today, the ghost of Captain Louis d’Estouteville watches over the place where he beat the evil English in 1434 from the top of the mount.

Chateau Quatre Saisons – This creepy part of France is easy to get to from Chateau Quatre Saisons, a rural retreat with its own mysteries… On the property is an old Cèdre du Liban that is said to have magical powers. In the woods nearby are 14 Stations of the Cross, which are huge stone crosses that mark the site of an ancient pilgrimage.

    2. The Catacombs

Most cities in Europe have shorter underground connections than Paris does. Deep in the ground, a dark past is waiting to be found by the brave. About six million Parisians live here, but not as people but as skulls and bones on the walls. During the Revolutionary Terror in the 18th century, when cemeteries began to get too full and disease spread across the country, this all began. Skeletons were moved from these cemeteries into old quarry tunnels to keep the city safe.

Your tour of the Catacombs starts with 20 meters of spiraling stairs, then takes you through a maze of tunnels. There are English, French, and Spanish audio guides that you can rent. People who want to plan ahead can buy tickets that let them skip the line.

    3. Versailles

A lot of strange things happen at the Chateau de Versailles, like stumbling into an 18th-century garden party or seeing Marie Antoinette in the garden. Especially the famous queen who was killed seems to haunt the castle. Her ghost is most often seen in her royal bedchamber.

Chateau des Roses – From Chateau des Roses, it’s easy to get to Versailles, Paris, and other important historical sites. Both the town and the market are only 10 minutes away on foot. This beautiful house was finished just before the French Revolution and was once home to a famous Count and his family. In this 350-acre estate, you can expect to find elegance and luxury.

      4. Mysteries Of Paris Vampire And Ghost Tour

As twilight slowly moves through Paris’s narrow alleys, hidden courtyards, and busy streets, something dark waits in the dark. Most people don’t know this, but there are many stories waiting to be told about ghosts, hauntings, and vampires. Some ghost and vampire tours will take you off the beaten path and tell you scary stories about the dark side of Paris.

The tour lasts about 90 minutes and begins at Notre Dame Cathedral. Every Wednesday through Saturday at 9 p.m., tours start. This is a great way to end your night.

      5. Chateau de Chateaubriant

If you want to get scared before Halloween, you should go to Chateau du Chateaubriant. At the first stroke of midnight on the sixteenth of every October, a ghostly procession of knights and monks is said to be observed following the ghosts of Francoise de Foix, his wife Jean de Laval, and her lover King Francis I as they slowly ascend the main staircase and vanish at the final stroke.

Chateau De Flora is a luxury home built in the 19th century that is full of family history. Step outside to find a heated pool, tennis courts, French-style gardens, and even an arboretum with more than 200 kinds of trees.

        6. Le Manior De Paris

This isn’t your typical haunted house, so leave the little ones at home for this one. Le Manoir de Paris is an interactive play for people who are not afraid to take risks. Behind the thick black velvet curtains is a walkthrough of one of the most important buildings in the center of Paris that will make your hair stand on end. Throughout the journey, the specters and monsters of Paris’ dark past make personal appearances. The best part is definitely the Asylum, which is a clinic for unusual treatments that can make you break out in cold sweats and see nightmares. All I have to say is that!

The Poissonnière stop on Line 7, Bonne Nouvelle on Lines 8 and 9, and Gare de l’Est on Lines 4, 5, and 7 are all a minute’s walk from Le Manoir. This makes it easy to add this tour to any Paris itinerary. The experience lasts about an hour and can be done in either English or French.

          7. Chateau de Commarque

This beautiful chateau was one of the places where terrible things happened during the Hundred Years’ War. During the fight, the Earl of Commarque’s daughter’s young love was beheaded, and legend says that his horse’s ghost still roams the grounds looking for his master. A sad story, but also a bit scary!

The Troubadour Castle – This castle was built in the 1300s. It has been a temporary home for many famous people, and four US number one songs were written here. The stained glass windows, antiques, and other fancy furniture in this home give it an extra special touch. The 280 acres of land and walks through the woods are also nice.

You don’t have to wait for October 31 to be scared. The question is whether or not you’re brave enough to try the scariest things the city has to offer. Once you’ve decided, look for the cheapest hotels in Paris to book a nice place to stay in a central location.
